YUME NIKKI FANGAMES

Yume Nikki is a dream exploring game made by Kikiyama in 2004. The gameplay and elements inspired a lot of people to create a new game subgenre -- Yume Nikki Fangames!

These games originate in 2007 with the creation of Yume 2kki, the biggest collaborative YNFG in history. After that, in 2009, .flow released, Inspiration following it... and in 2010, the YNFG phenomenom took over.

With 29 fangames released that year, YNFG from all over the world were being developed. Surprisingly, the year with more YNFG releases was the late 2021, with a total of 70 fangames !

While every fangame is dear to me, I have made an effort to put my favorite fangames of each year- consider playing them !

2007: Yume 2kki by The 2kki Development Team
The biggest fangame with over 1200 worlds as im writting this! Made by people all over the world with contributions from the community, this fangame is more of a love letter to the YNFG community. It still updates to this day- and I've even contribuetd to it!

2008: havent played any . .

2009: .flow by lol_rust
The second most iconic YNFG. Known for its bloody and rusty aesthetic, .flow offers various endings along with many secrets.

2010: Witoru by Atteiu
This fangame is my favorite one, I am working on a shrine of it. It is considered to be the first YNFG with dialogue. People say Yon goh is the first male protag, but that's Alex ! Witoru got a remake recently and I have played it 4 times... AA A A AA ! ! ! !

2011: NostAlgic by TOM
A fangame I hold close to my heart. NostAlgic makes me cry everytime, even if it's really short. It has pastel colored worlds with cute stuff.. it feels right ! ! !

2012: Someday by jojogape
This one just hit me because I am from Spain, and guess what, jojogape is too. There were so many familiar aspects in this game which made me feel like "oh thats where i used to go".. it also has a story that also broke me a bit !

2013: E nikki by Sakura
The most lighthearted YNFG I've played along with She Awaits. This game is adorable with plant themes, and got a remake in 2020 !

2014: device by Machikado no Michi and Haru
Sadly unfinished fangame, but still a fun one. I recommend device if you like robots and cats. And vocaloid. The worlds it has have a really unique charm, i love them a lot ! !

2015: Yuque by 794810
Beautiful fangame with so many secrets, being updated to this day! The worlds and music in this game are awesome ! ! !

2016: moonLess*L by Remenesu
I'm going to be dead honest, I thought this fangame was going to be a cute one but it scared me a few times. This is a fangame with two protagonists, something fairly rare in fangames! 10/10 game btw pleaseplay moonLess*L

2017: Agony by Beloth
Once again... I was fooled by the cute graphics... And it is also a two protag fangame. You explore the dreams of two sisters, one of them being probably dead... :(

2018: Re:in by Gaida the Duck
... I dont trust cute graphics anymore, specially in two protag games- because this is one too. Made by one of my favorite YNFG artists, it has gorgeous art and beautiful places to see!!!!

2019: I Cannot Drown by pureiceblue
This fangame is so scary to me but I love it. It takes the obligatory white dessert world in a YNFG to a whole next level, the only colors seen being white, black and red.

2020: Sister's Dream (Art de Reve) by Pgray
GORGEOUS GRAPHICS . Pgray does an amazing job with his pixel art skills, and sister dreams is also really fun. And sad. :(

2021: Daughter by diamoni
Tired of playing as angsty teenagers or toodlers? GRANDMA ! ! ! This game makes me so happy. It's so cute and nice.. you can also feed your bird so extra point for that!

2022: COLD by Mnn988
A pretty looking fangame with so many awesome worlds... focuses on coldness!! This game has something that makes it special, and that is the cold. Be careful with Aruben when you play please..

2023: illove dream by zanhyou
This game killed me I think. It has gorgeous visuals and.... Aiko! I feel horrible for her. Also this one is actually a tie with Unaccomplished and ...

2024: Angel Wings by monotqro
I am a bit biased on this one since monotqro is a good friend of mine ( hi uroooo ), but this fangame is very lighthearted and gorgeous to see. It's really cute ! ! ! ! !

2025: TBD ! !
